Student Safety

Please help us keep all our students safe, healthy, and happy! 

+ Remind students to keep toys at home. This prevents loss and damage. Students should not buy, sell, or trade items at school. If a student needs a fidget to help them concentrate in class, please speak with their teacher. We are working to help students understand the difference between a tool (used quietly in class) and a toy (played with), and to use their tools appropriately. 

+ Energy Drinks!!!!!! We have had an increase in the number of students drinking sugary drinks, and sodas, and energy drinks such as Red Bull and Celsius. If staff sees them, we will ask students to put them away and save them for after school. 

+Help prevent brain injuries through helmet use. CA law requires youth under 18 to wear a helmet when biking, skating, scootering, and e-biking on public streets. Reach out to the office if you are in need of a helmet.

Family-Teacher Conversations

Back to School Night was a great opportunity for us to convey all the classroom organizational details to families. Next up is Family-School Conversations from September 14 - 18. This is an opportunity for families to talk with teachers and for us to learn more about how your children learn best and what they need to thrive. Teachers will all ask the same basic questions to families. They are listed here if you'd like to study in advance. 
  • Tell me a little bit about your child.
  • What are some things your child is passionate about?
  • Next June, what do you hope your child says about his/her experience in school this year? What’s the story you hope he/she will tell?
  • What might be some concerns or fears you have for your child this year?
  • Tell me about a day that your child didn’t want to come to school. What was going on? 
  • What was your experience like at this grade?  How do you reflect on your schooling experience?
  • Tell me about your child’s morning and night time routines.
  • How and when would you like me to be in touch with you this year?  What might be some things you’ll hope I’ll communicate with you?
  • What might be something I missed, but you want me to know about your child?

Sports

Girls Volleyball: You can see the season's schedule here. There will be a volleyball clinic on Friday, September 18 from 5:00 - 7:00. 

Cross Country 
Practice times are adjusted for conference week. TK-8th will practice together from 1:30 - 2:15. 

Lice

We are notifying you that head lice have been found on a student at school. This is not a cause for panic - head lice are common among school-aged children and do not spread diseases. Having head lice has nothing to do with hygiene or living in an unclean environment. Head lice can be treated and prevented.
Although someone at school has been found to have head lice, it is important to remember the following:
  • Your child will not necessarily get head lice in this situation. The risk of getting head lice at school is low.
  • You do not need to begin treatment for head lice. 
  • You do not need to clean anything to prevent head lice.
Most commonly, head lice spread by direct head-to-head (hair-to-hair) contact with someone who has head lice. Occasionally, head lice can also spread by sharing personal items that come in contact with a person’s head, such as combs, hats, hoodies, scarves, and hair ties. Head lice are more likely to spread between children during sleepovers, play dates, and family gatherings than at school.

What You Should Do
It is important to check your child’s hair regularly for head lice. 
What to look for: 
  • Head lice are about the size of a sesame seed and are tan or grayish-white in color. Head lice glue their tiny eggs (called "nits") at the base of hairs on the head, close to the scalp. Nits are tear-drop shaped, yellow or white in color, and may be confused with dirt or dandruff. Nits, however, cannot be easily brushed off. Someone with head lice will have lice crawling in their hair near the scalp, and nits may be found glued to individual hairs, usually behind the ears and near the neckline. 
If your child gets head lice, they may experience the following:
  • An itchy scalp or the feeling of something moving in their hair 
  • Irritability and trouble sleeping at night (head lice are most active at night)
Prevention
The best way to prevent the spread of head lice is to avoid head-to-head (hair-to-hair) contact with other people. We recommend you teach your child:
  • Not to touch or rub heads with other children during play and other activities
  • Not to share personal items like combs, hats, hoodies, scarves, or hair ties

PTO Color Run

Mark your calendars — the PTO is hosting our annual Color Run on Monday, September 21, 2026! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it helps make so much possible for our students, from fun events throughout the year to scholarships that ensure every child can participate, regardless of their family's circumstances. We'd love your help spreading the word and gathering sponsorships to make this year's run a success!
Every student will receive a T-shirt, which we'll tie-dye together after the race — so be sure to take this quick survey to let us know your child's shirt size.

TSEF Updates

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Trinidad School Education Foundation (TSEF) is kicking off the new school year with a Membership Drive and our first big fundraiser on October 2nd. 

TSEF is a registered 501(c)3 organization that directly supports the Art, Drama, Gardening & Music programs at Trinidad School. 
The arts programming at Trinidad School costs roughly $300 per student per school year. That comes down to $1.67 per school day or $15 a month. 

Please consider sponsoring your student and/or classmate(s) with a one time donation or monthly donation to TSEF.

Lunch on the Lawn

We are pleased to invite significant adults in our students' lives to join them for lunch on Wednesday, October 14. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, mentors, etc. can join their child for lunch and community time. We ask for a $5 donation per adult meal.
