Week One!

What a great first week back! The energy is positive and busy here at school. We've been settling in to routines, catching up with old friends, and meeting new friends.
Thank you to those who came and joined us for Back to School Night last night. It's a great opportunity to get to know other families in your child's class and to learn about all the ways you can get involved this year.
Today was the Welcome Back to School Assembly. Our Dragon had many opportunities to dust off its Rock, Paper, Scissors skills, and it even helped the 8th grade class lead the school in singing We Are Going To Be Friends.
A safety note: we lock the playground and Dragon gates when the bell rings at 8:50. Students who arrive after school starts should enter through the office and check in before heading to class.

Music

Every student enjoys music class as part of our general curriculum. As they grow older, they'll have the chance to join more focused ensembles. No advance sign up is needed — we simply ask that once a student joins a band, they keep that commitment to their fellow musicians, who are counting on them.
Here is what we offer:
Mondays
  • 8:00 am ~ instrument practice class for all instruments 4th-8th grades
  • 215-2:35 pm ~ Jr. Choir, Tk-3rd grades
Wednesdays
  • 8:00 am ~ Steel Pan Band 3rd-8th grades
  • 2:15-3:00 ~ 5th-8th grade ensemble music (Choir in Fall, Strings in Spring)
Fridays
  • 8:00 am ~ Steel Pan Band
  • 2:15-3:00 ~ 5th-8th grade ensemble Music (Concert Band/Jazz Band)
  • 3:15-4:40 ~ Rock Band, 6th-8th grades

Athletics

Girls Volleyball begins next week - September 1! Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:00. Any interested girls in 5th - 8th grade should come to practice - even if they did not sign up in class. At this point, we will have one volleyball team for all grades.

Cross Country is open to students in grades TK-8. Coach Bowman is looking for volunteers to help coach our youngest runners in grades TK-2.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with our first meet on September 22.
There will be a parent meeting for cross country runners on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:00. It will take place in Room 11.

Trinidad School offers a variety of sports activities. Students in grades TK-8 are invited to participate in our track and cross country teams, and students in grades 5-8 are invited to participate in girls volleyball and boys and girls basketball. Learn more here.
All students who participate in sports MUST have a physical on file in the office. The form can be found here, or you can stop by the office for a paper copy. Students who expressed interest in participating in sports this year received a paper copy at school today.

Trinidad School has partnered with a local provider who will be here on Wednesday, September 2 from 3:00 - 6:00. She will complete physicals for $20 per student, scholarships are available.

*If you are comfortable with Alyse helping your child through the stations (heart rate, height, weight, etc.), you can send them to school with payment and a signed form. Please fill out the yes/no checklist on the front page. We'll take care of the rest. If you would prefer to be there with your child, that is also fine! Please arrive before 6:00.*

If you can't make the physicals on this date, your primary care physician can complete the physical. Redwood Urgent Care also offers walk in appointments.

School Pictures

Time to bust out the hairspray and curling irons! School pictures will happen next Thursday (TK-3rd grade) and Friday (4th - 8th grade). You will not receive a paper order form and students do not need to bring any money on picture day. We'll take everyone's photo, and families will receive a link to a site where they can choose the photos of their child and sizes they would like to order.

TSEF Updates

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Trinidad School Education Foundation (TSEF) is kicking off the new school year with a Membership Drive and our first big fundraiser on October 2nd

TSEF is a registered 501(c)3 organization that directly supports the Art, Drama, Gardening & Music programs at Trinidad School.
The arts programming at Trinidad School costs roughly $300 per student per school year. That comes down to $1.67 per school day or $15 a month.

Please consider sponsoring your student and/or classmate(s) with a one time donation or monthly donation to TSEF.

You can find more details for the Membership Drive & October 2nd event in the linktree below:
