Welcome to Trinidad School’s Dragon Library!

The library welcomes students and parents 8:30 to 3:30 five days a week. We have library times for grades TK-8th once a week, but students can come before school, recesses, and after school to check out books and do a multitude of other activities. We offer not only a place to check out books, but a quiet place to do homework, read quietly, and ask for help on a project. Parents are also welcome to check out books. Our goal is to promote literacy while sharing the wonders of reading.

The library is also the home of Reading Intervention Services. This service includes both group and one-on-one reading sessions with Mrs. May and literacy teachers in the school.  Thanks to Trinidad School Education Foundation we have a new collection of High-Interest Low-Readability books now to make reading accessible to all levels.

The library is a happy place! Besides borrowing books, or listening to read aloud stories, there are many treasures. The reading-leveled books and found in book bins, arranged by author so children can easily look in a book bin and find a book that interests them, and is at their level. There are many picture books that are available to read aloud or on your own. The library book collection has many books for you to develop your literacy skills and a love of books. The children can bring their books back at any time, not just library time and get more books.

Our older students, grades 4-8 also use the library to focus on their projects and other programs. Trinidad library supports the Battle of the Books, History Day, MARE month, and many other areas of classroom research.

The Authors’ Festival is every two years in which a featured author visits our school. We participate in The California Young Reader Annual contest and librarians read each book to the students and they vote on their favorite book. We are funded by Book Fairs and other fundraising events such as our annual  Tri-tip dinner. We also gladly accept book donations!

Students can use our library system to look for books of interest.
